My Role
As Director of Commercial Corridor Revitalization & Business Development at Mt. Airy CDC, I led the transformation of Lovett Park from concept through activation—facilitating a collaborative design process, aligning city, institutional, and community partners, and shaping a space that reflected the neighborhood’s identity and needs.
Approach
Facilitated community engagement sessions to inform design direction and programming
Partnered with local civic associations and friends organizations, the Free Library, Community Design Collaborative, landscape architects, and funders including The William Penn Foundation
Oversaw coordination between landscape architects, city agencies, and stakeholders
Integrated the park redesign into a broader corridor revitalization strategy
Led planning for early activations and events to build community awareness and momentum
Led crowd-sourced fundraising efforts for initial park furnishings
Outcomes
A previously underused space became an active community gathering hub
Activated a key node for connectivity and walkability on the corridor.
Demonstrated the value of locally informed, people-first public space design
